From the Archives: Day 6

Day 6 From the Archives: The days are bleeding together, and I'm not good at counting. This is another very deep dive, from way back when I first moved to San Francisco (2005). Everything was new and beautiful. I felt inspired and encouraged and free. I found this piece of graffiti down by China Beach and became obsessed with it. I'd wander the city allies and deserted water fronts and somehow come across this skull again and again. I loved it so much that it became a tattoo. The gentle texture in the sky, the barb wire, the faded tones - it all feels like pure nostalgia and isn't that the purpose of a photograph. It brings me back to the joy of being young and taking the very first steps toward a career in photography. I never knew I could turn my passion into a career but someone told me to take a class at City College, which I did, and the rest is history pretty much. It's weird to think that it all started with images like this.
