From the Archives: Day 9

From the Archives Day 9: Original Polaroid 669 film (which of course I hoarded for many years after Polaroid stopped production). I started driving from San Francisco down to Los Angeles after The Doggie Gaga Project gained attention. I was invited to do a few celebrity dog events in LA and felt like I was stepping into another world. I didn't know what to wear in LA, and I didn't know how to act or how to talk to famous people (and their tiny dogs). I'd pack some PB&J sandwiches and take the long drive down the 5, and would always stop along the orchards that follow the freeway. There was something so beautiful about the rows and rows of fields juxtaposed against the cars. I made this image one day when I pulled off the 5 and just drove right up into an orchard. No one was around, and I crept into what I think was an almond orchard (?) and shot a series of images. Each element an equal third - sky, ground, trees. With those faded Polaroid tones. I made a round of large prints of this image for myself and some friends. It's peaceful and reminds me of attempting to center myself before finishing the drive into LA back in the early days of my career. As a reminder - I'm offering limited edition prints of all these 'From the Archives' images. Get in touch for more info.
