Dog Photography Tips for the 'Books, Barks + Banter' Facebook Group

I had a great time chatting with the wonderful ‘Books, Barks and Banter’ Facebook Group the other day. As a little holiday gift from the directors to the members, I got to present a short one hour mini dog photography class - focusing on some key components to improve everyone’s own photographs of their own dogs (whether with their iPhones or ‘real’ cameras). I love taking foundational photography concepts like lighting, focus, and composition and making them totally digestible and approachable for the masses. There were lots of great questions and comments from the Facebook Live presentation, and you can watch the entire video by clicking the photo above (or here is the direct link: https://www.facebook.com/patricia.tirrell/videos/4199844220032048)

We also chatted about many of my dog photography books, including:

1) 2017’s ‘Finding Shelter’ (black and white portraits of animal shelter volunteers across the country, and their moving, personal stories of how volunteering has not only saved the animals’ lives but also their own). Signed copies are just $25 - click here www.jessefreidin.com/signed-copy-finding-shelter

2) 2020’s ‘Photographing the Dog/Human Bond: Over a Decade of Dogs, Cameras and Unconditional Love’ - this is a great coffee table book featuring a decade worth of my favorite portraits from around the country. 11” x 13”, looks beautiful on a coffee table or as a gift. 3) 2021’s forthcoming ‘When Dogs Heal: Powerful Stories of People Living with HIV and the Dogs That Saved Them.’ This book has been 6 years in the making, and I can’t wait to get it out into the world (after a slight COVID delay). We’ll be having lots of really fun and engaging online Zoom book readings, which you can keep up with on our website: www.whendogsheal.org
