Biography:

Jesse Freidin is America's leading fine art dog photographer, with work in more than 150 private collections throughout the United States. His portraiture has been exhibited in galleries across the country, and studies the deeply healing power of the human/animal bond— telling a contemporary story of companionship and love that truly honors the role dogs play in our modern lives.  

Jesse was awarded 'Best Dog Photographer in the San Francisco Bay Area' and 'Best Dog Photographer in Los Angeles' for fine art pet portraiture in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. He is also the creator of three viral dog photography series: The Doggie Gaga Project (2010), When Dogs Heal (published by Lerner Books 2020), and Finding Shelter (published by Lyons Press 2017). His work has been featured in Vogue, Cosmopolitan, The Huffington Post, Yahoo!, MTV, Live! with Regis and Kelly, Inside Edition, The Bark Magazine, Dogster, Garden and Gun Magazine, The New York Post, Four and Sons Magazine and many more. His Santa Fe studio is quickly becoming a place where dogs and culture collide.

Pancake

This is one heck of a dog.

I brought Pancake into my world ten years ago when he was just two months old and could fit in the palm of my hand, and we've been inseparable ever since. He's my sidekick—the first dog I've ever had the pleasure of sharing my life with—and it's been an incredible journey growing and learning together, teaching each other, relying on each other and sharing everything. Except the driving—I do that on my own.

Pancake is in his golden years, and I know he won’t be around forever. The portraits I have of him give me incredible joy and relief, knowing that his spirit and memories will never be absent from my life even when he moves on. This is something I share with many of my clients, and a large reason commissions begin.

Though our cherished companions stay with us for a short moment in time, their love and spirit lives for eternity within the portraits we create.
