TEDDY THE GOLDEN/BAY AREA’S BEST DOG PHOTOGRAPHER JESSE FREIDIN

Golden Retreivers come in all shapes and sizes, but Teddy was a Golden that truly fit his name. Big, fluffy, happy, silly- he was a senior dog in a puppy’s body. He certainly has a lot of work to do around the house, even as a senior dog. He’s got teenagers to keep up with, soccer games to referee in the back yard, a swimming pool to keep watch over, and a couple tennis balls to round up every day. It’s a busy life for Teddy.

For our session, I treated him to an afternoon of lounging in the cool grass. Here are some of my favorites:

FABIO//BAY AREA’S BEST DOG PHOTOGRAPHER JESSE FREIDIN

Hold the phone! That’s not a dog………

Ok ok ok, I know I need to be more inclusive in my love for animal companions. I’ve photographed dogs, I’ve photographed elephants, horses, cows, fish, etc. But never a cat. Call me a bigot. Call me one-sided. Call me allergic. Either way- I’ve finally overcome my feline apprehensions, and present to you Fabio, the famous blogging cat. Fabio belongs to an esteemed writer of the Huffington Post, has been writing his very own blog for about 5 yrs, and is basically a dog. In a cat costume. It was really fun to play with his tiny size, compared to the beautiful loft he lives in, with huge walls. It was a great session. With a cat. Whoa.

JED//BAY AREA’S BEST DOG PHOTOGRAPHER JESSE FREIDIN

As you may know, I love all things smushy-faced and snorty. Boston Terriers, pit bulls, Bulldogs, Boxers, Mastiffs, etc. Give me a squashed face and some drool and I’m in heaven. So, of course, this little tank of an English Bulldog really pulled on my heart strings. He was very set in his ways (as many Bulldogs can be), but what made me laugh so hard was at the end of our session, as I was packing up my camera bag, Jed’s dad decided to cool him off with the garden hose. Jed apparently LOVES water, and went bonkers trying to chase after the water, bite the water, jump through the water, etc. Of course- I had to shoot one last roll of film. And I’m glad I did. MISS LOLA ROSE//BAY AREA’S BEST DOG PHOTOGRAPHER JESSE FREIDIN

I had the pleasure of photographing Miss Lola Rose and her mom a few months ago in Los Angeles. Her mom won my Fine Art Dog Photography Package at the Buddha Bark fundraiser for Best Friends Animal Society – I donate photography packages to countless organizations every year, but always love connecting with big groups like Best Friends because they have such a huge impact on how we treat, rescue, and support our country’s animals.

My session with Lola Rose was truly magical- she is the kind of dog that exudes love and devotion, with a healthy dose of ridiculous. As she sauntered around the house, back yard, zoomed around the table, and sat in her favorite spot staring out the second-story window, she painted a picture of an amazingly happy dog’s life. The sparks that flew between Lola, her mom, and her grandpa were amazing. They were a devoted family, and each took care of the others in unique ways. These are some of my favorite images of the past year, and bring me so much joy as a photographer, dog owner, and human being.
